Loss of Migratory Traditions Makes the Endangered Patagonian Huemul Deer a Year-Round Refugee in Its Summer Habitat
This article analyzes the historical spatiotemporal behavior of the huemul (Hippocamelus bisulcus), an endangered deer endemic to Patagonia. Losing migratory traditions is a major threat, and may explain their presently prevalent skeletal diseases, reduced longevity, and lacking recolonizations for most remaining huemul subpopulations.

Presentation highlighting Project SUCCESS in Language and Literacy Instruction which is a Title III National Professional Development Program at the University of North Texas funded by the U. S. Department of Education. The project is directed by the Bilingual Teacher Education Program of the University of North Texas. UNT works in partnership with Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD, Region 10 ESC, the Latino Family Literacy Project, and the Intercultural Development Research Association for this project. The goals of the project are to prepare bilingual and ESL pre-service teachers, to provide professional development for in service teachers to improve their instruction for English Learners (ELs) and to engage teachers with families and communities. Crucial Development: Criticality Is Important to Cell-to-Cell Communication and Information Transfer in Living Systems
This article is the fourth paper of the Special Issue Memory and Criticality. It bridges the the theoretical debate on the role of memory and criticality discussed in the three earlier manuscripts, with a review of key concepts in biology and focus on cell-to-cell communication in organismal development. The authors suggest that in conjunction with morphogenetic gradients, there exist gradients of information transfer creating cybernetic loops of stability and disorder, setting the stage for adaptive capability. Criticality, therefore, appears to be an important factor in the transmission, transfer and coding of information for complex adaptive system development.

Habitat Requirements of the Golden Orb (Quadrula aurea): Final Report
Final report of a project to determine habitat parameters influencing distributions of Golden Orb (Q.aurea) mussels in the Guadalupe-San Antonio river basin: "The objectives of this study can be summarized by the following task: 1) Identify four samples with sufficient populations of Q.aurea to evaluate habitat parameters. 2) Evaluate the distribution of Q.aurea at selected sample sites in relation to habitat parameters and monitor flow conditions at these locations. 3) Calculate the shear stress ratio (RSS) for multiple flow conditions and the relationship with mussel density at selected sites. 4) Compile and summarize life history information for Q.aurea and related species" (p. 8).

Article summarises the known structures, biological activities, and biosynthetic pathways of the tropolone sesquiterpenoid family of fungal secondary metabolites. Synthesis of this knowledge allows likely structural and stereochemical misassignments to be revised and shows how the compounds can be divided into three main biosynthetic classes based on the stereochemistry of key biosynthetic steps.
