Systemic signaling during abiotic stress combination in plants
Article reveals that plants can integrate different local and systemic signals generated during conditions of stress combination. Furthermore, results show that the specific part at which plants sense the two co-occurring stresses makes a significant difference in how fast and efficient they acclimate.

Mortality salience, effort, and cardiovascular response to a bar-press challenge: Remarkably nuanced effects of a death prime on heart performance
Article is a study that presented participants with a bar-pressing challenge relevant to their identity after having exposed them to a prime that made their mortality more or less salient. Modeling and predicting evacuation flows during hurricane Irma
This article proposes a method to model evacuation flows and reveal the patterns of evacuation flows at different spatial scales. First, the authors present a method to characterize evacuation flows at different geographic scales: the state level, considering evacuation flows across southern states affected by Irma; the urban/rural area level, and the county level. Then they demonstrate results on the predictability of evacuation flows in the most affected state, Florida, by using the following environmental factors: the destructive force of the hurricane, the socioeconomic context, and the evacuation policy issued for counties. The results presented in this paper can help decision makers to better understand population evacuation behaviors given certain environmental features, which in turn will aid in the design of efficient and informed preparedness and response strategies.

Characterization of Soft Tooling Photopolymers and Processes for Micromixing Devices with Variable Cross-Section
Article characterizing an assortment of photopolymers and stereolithography processes to produce 3D-printed molds and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) castings of micromixing devices. The study shows that 3D-printed soft tooling can provide other benefits such as multiple cross-sections and other potential layouts on a single mold.

Urban and air pollution: a multi-city study of long-term effects of urban landscape patterns on air quality trends
This article identifies the key urban form determinants of decadal-long fine particulate matter (PM2.5) trends in all 626 Chinese cities at the county level and above. As the first study of its kind, this study comprehensively examines the urban form effects on air quality in cities of different population sizes, at different development levels, and in different spatial-autocorrelation positions.

On Polish groups admitting non-essentially countable actions
Article addresses the question whether every Polish group that is not locally compact admits a Borel action on a standard Borel space whose associated orbit equivalence relation is not essentially countable. Surface-specific washing-free immunosensor for time-resolved cortisol monitoring

An experimental and modeling study on auto-ignition kinetics of ammonia/methanol mixtures at intermediate temperature and high pressure
Article describes how a rapid compression machine has been applied to measure the ignition delay times of NH3/CH3OH mixtures covering pressures of 20 and 40 bar, equivalence ratios of 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0, and temperatures between 845 and 1100 K. Analysis of the pressure profiles shows three distinct ignition modes for NH3/CH3OH mixtures, facilitated by the pre-ignition heat release from NH3 consumption. A detailed mechanism for ignition of NH3/CH3OH fuel blends has been developed, capable of reproducing the ignition behavior of mixtures with reasonable accuracy.

Collection Assessment Through DEI Lenses: Venturing into (nearly) uncharted waters
Presentation for a panel discussing UNT Libraries' journey to address systemic and systematic vestiges of oppression of socially and politically minoritized populations. For this purpose, the Collection Assessment Department is planning on evaluating the UNT Libraries’ collections, identifying sources of diverse materials, and connecting with our communities.
