Mechanical property enhancement of self-bonded natural fiber material via controlling cell wall plasticity and structure

This article explores self-bonded natural fiber material (SNFM) as a promising alternative for plastic and wood owing to its abundant raw material resources and low environmental impact. In this study, a high-performance SNFM was developed by the comprehensive treatments for the plasticity and structure of fiber cell walls. The self-bonded mechanism for natural fiber materials was also discussed. The SNFM products showed excellent mechanical performance, which was superior to that of natural wood and plastic.

Article presents a 3D body imaging system built upon stereovision technology which utilizes paired, high-resolution single-lens reflex (SLR) cameras to image the front and back body surfaces of a person, and robust and efficient stereo matching algorithms to reconstruct the 3D surface of the body with high-density data clouds.

Developing Evaluation Frameworks for Business Models in China’s Rural Markets (open access)

Developing Evaluation Frameworks for Business Models in China’s Rural Markets

This article draws on case analysis to present two frameworks for evaluating two types of business models, and, through open coding and axial coding on eight Chinese cases, identifies the main components for the evaluation frameworks and critical factors within each component. Using the coding results as a lens, the article applies a cross-case comparative data analysis to establish the multi-level evaluation systems and provides suggestions for entrepreneurs and other stakeholders to better their business model design in China’s rural markets.
