It argues that the Alex Garland film Annihilation (2018) and the Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda comic series Monstress (2015) both enact post-human dramas of colonization by the Other, figured as both alien and natural forces, but leave room for the possibility of "hybrid bodies" that allow for integration of the human and the non-human, and a mutual agency that might be productive of new ways of existing and acting in harmony.
