This paper was presented at the 2016 IFLA World Library and Information Congress News Media Satellite Meeting on News, new roles & preservation advocacy: moving libraries into action. This paper provides and overview of the partnership between the University of North Texas and the Dallas/Forth Worth affiliate station of the National Broadcasting Company (NBC 5/KXAS) to preserve the content of the oldest television news station in Texas, including discussions of copyright, funding, and access to audio/visual collections.

This presentation discusses social cataloging, how social tagging affects cataloging. In this presentation, the author discusses the implications and questions raised about social cataloging, a review of the research, the characteristics of the studies on social tagging and cataloging, and how social cataloging works.

This article reports preliminary results of the first stage of a research project that seeks to identify the information organization methods and techniques currently offered in the language data archives and the gaps between the tools and techniques available and the needs of actual and potential users of language data archives.
