Breaking Down the Book: Literature Review and Practice of Book Digitization Methods

Presentation exploring book digitization practices and standards and share how they are implemented by the UNT Digital Projects Lab. With a large number of books flowing into their department, the authors decided to conduct research on the methods of scanning using the equipment and software available to them. This presentation reports on their findings and what factors went into deciding what type of books get scanned where and how. Results include changes to local digitizing standards and clarified workflows based on the types of books to be scanned. Article on the implementation of liquid exfoliation to inkjet-print two-dimensional (2D) black phosphorous (BP) and molybdenum disulfide (MoS₂) p–n heterojunctions on a standard indium tin oxide (ITO) glass substrate in a vertical architecture. The authors also compared the optical and electrical properties of the inkjet-printed BP layer with that of the MoS₂ and the electrical properties of the mechanically exfoliated MoS₂ with that of the inkjet-printed MoS₂.

A Comparative Study of Water Indices and Image Classification Algorithms for Mapping Inland Surface Water Bodies Using Landsat Imagery

This article presents a comparative study of water indices and image classification algorithms for mapping inland water bodies using Landsat imagery through obtaining 24 high-resolution (≤5 m) and cloud-free images archived in Google Earth with the same (or ±1 day) acquisition dates as the Landsat-8 OLI images over 24 selected lakes across the globe, and developing a method to generate the alternate ground truth data from the Google Earth images for properly evaluating the Landsat image classification results.
