Structural equation modeling of psychopathic traits in Chilean female offenders using the Self-Report Psychopathy-Short Form (SRP-SF) Scale: a comparison of gender-based item modifications versus standard items

This article examines the utility of the Self-Report Psychopathy-Short Form (SRP-SF) to assess psychopathic traits in female offenders and to test gender-based item modifications. While both the standard SRP-SF and the Psychopathy Checklist-Revised (PCL-R) were adequate, the modified items added robustness to representation of psychopathic features.

Perception of Falls and Confidence in Self-Management of Falls among Older Adults

This article investigates the relative contribution of confidence of self-management in falls (CSMoF) in relation to fall risk self-perceptions while controlling for demographics and self-reported health and functioning. The joint effects of perception of falls and fear of falls likely explain CSMoF among older adults more than physical functional indicators. Fall prevention programs for older adults should prioritize to address modifiable subjective factors of fall perceptions, fear of falls, and CSMoF across health and functioning statuses.

“Youth Are More Aware and Intelligent than Imagined”: The Mountain Air Youth Photovoice Project

This article looks at respiratory illness in Appalachian Kentucky because it reports some of the highest rates of respiratory illness in the United States. As part of the Mountain Air Project, local youth were invited to share their perspectives on possible contributing factors to respiratory illness, and the authors undertook an exploratory study to determine the utility of photovoice to elicit such perspectives with this population. This study demonstrates the value of incorporating youth perspectives in environmental health research, and that photovoice was a valuable approach to elicit such perspectives.

Peripheral Circulating Exosomal miRNAs Potentially Contribute to the Regulation of Molecular Signaling Networks in Aging

This article aims to understand some of the causes of aging and the underlying mechanisms that may lead to interventions that could reverse certain aging processes and slow development of aging-related diseases. People are living longer than ever. Consequently, they have a greater chance for developing a functional impairment or aging-related disease, such as a neurodegenerative disease, later in life.
