Maternal diabetes and childhood cancer risks in offspring: two population-based studies
Article studies the effect of maternal diabetes on childhood cancer has not been widely studied. Their results suggest that maternal diabetes is an important risk factor for certain types of childhood cancers, emphasizing the need for effective interventions targeting maternal diabetes to prevent serious health effects in offspring.

Existence of Solutions for Sublinear Equations on Exterior Domains
This article proves the existence of an infinite number of radial solutions of Δu+K(r)ƒ(u) = 0, one with exactly n zeros for each nonnegative integer n on the exterior of the ball of radius R > 0, Bʀ, centered at the origin in ℝᴺ with u = 0 on ∂Bʀ and limᵣ→∞u(r) = 0 where N > 2, f is odd with ƒ < 0 on (0; β), ƒ > 0 on (β;∞), ƒ(u) ~ uᵖ with 0 < p < 1 for large u and K(r) ~ r-α with 0 < α < 2 for large r.

Tuning the decay of sound in a viscous metamaterial
Authors of the article use analytical results for viscous dissipation in phononic crystals to calculate the decay coefficient of a sound wave propagating at low frequencies through a two-dimensional phononic crystal with a viscous fluid background. They claim that the decay coefficient exhibits dependence on the direction of propagation; that is, a homogenized phononic crystal behaves like an anisotropic viscous fluid.

Mental Illness and Youth-Onset Homelessness: A Retrospective Study among Adults Experiencing Homelessness
This article retrospectively evaluating the association between the timing of homelessness onset (youth versus adult) and mental illness as a reason for homelessness among homeless adults living in homeless shelters and/or receiving services from homeless-serving agencies in Texas and Oklahoma. A better understanding of these relationships could inform needs for early interventions and/or better prepare agencies that serve at-risk youth to address precursors to youth homelessness.

Underlying Ossification Phenotype in a Murine Model of Metastatic Synovial Sarcoma
This article presents the analysis of genetic mouse models of synovial sarcoma to determine the extent of ossification in the tumors and its relationship with morbidity. The authors noted higher ossification within their metastatic mouse model of synovial sarcoma. Their conclusion is that both metastasis and ossification are dependent on time, but that they are independent of one another.

Role of heterophase interfaces on local coercivity mechanisms in the magnetic Al0.3CoFeNi complex concentrated alloy
Article describes how authors use state-of-the-art electron microscopy techniques to show that the magnetization reversal process in an Al0.3CoFeNi magnetic complex concentrated alloy (CCA), which is responsible for its coercivity, changes dramatically from a nucleation-type mechanism in the FCC+L12 state of the CCA. Their work reveals that heterophase FCC/BCC interfaces have a much stronger effect on coercivity than isostructural chemically ordered/disordered interfaces and provides a powerful guide to the rational design of microstructure to tune magnetic properties in both complex concentrated alloys and conventional magnetic alloys.
