Charge stabilization via electron exchange: excited charge separation in symmetric, central triphenylamine derived, dimethylaminophenyl–tetracyanobutadiene donor–acceptor conjugates (open access)

Charge stabilization via electron exchange: excited charge separation in symmetric, central triphenylamine derived, dimethylaminophenyl–tetracyanobutadiene donor–acceptor conjugates

This article hypothesizes and demonstrates a new mechanism to stabilize the charge separated states via the process of electron exchange among the different acceptor entities in multimodular donor–acceptor conjugates. This work constitutes the first example of stabilizing charge-separated states via the process of electron exchange.

Multifeature analyses of vascular cambial cells reveal longevity mechanisms in old Ginkgo biloba trees (open access)

Multifeature analyses of vascular cambial cells reveal longevity mechanisms in old Ginkgo biloba trees

This article investigates age-related changes in Ginkgo biloba trees to learn more about the molecular and metabolic mechanisms underlying their longevity. The results revealed that long-lived trees have evolved compensatory mechanisms to maintain a balance between growth and aging processes.

School-Based Sedentary Behavior, Physical Activity, and Health-Related Outcomes among Hispanic Children in the United States: A Cross-Sectional Study (open access)

School-Based Sedentary Behavior, Physical Activity, and Health-Related Outcomes among Hispanic Children in the United States: A Cross-Sectional Study

The article highlights a study meant to examine the relationships between school-based sedentary behavior, physical activity, and health-related outcomes, including cardiorespiratory fitness, weight status, and health-related quality of life (HRQOL) among Hispanic children. Sedentary behavior was negatively correlated with cardiorespiratory fitness and HRQOL but positively associated with weight status. MVPA was positively correlated with cardiorespiratory fitness and HRQOL, but negatively associated with weight status and sedentary behavior. Multiple regressions demonstrated that sedentary behavior significantly predicted cardiorespiratory fitness and weight status, whereas MVPA significantly predicted HRQOL.

The Tourism Sector and U.S. Regional Macroeconomic Stability: A Network Approach (open access)

The Tourism Sector and U.S. Regional Macroeconomic Stability: A Network Approach

This article investigates how the structural mix of USA regional economies affects their volatility of economic growth using four exogenous sectors: Federal Government, construction, manufacturing, and tourism. Results suggest that a larger share of Federal Government employment in an economy reduces the variability of overall employment growth, while a larger share of construction activity elevates it. Results also show that recently manufacturing has not contributed as much to such variability, and that a larger tourism presence increases it. The increasing integration of technology in tourism offers significant opportunities for a network approach and innovation in regional development.
