[Hotel Dieu Hospital]

Postcard of Hotel Dieu hospital, located on the banks of the Neches River near Sabine Pass Avenue and Emmett Avenue. Hotel Dieu was first opened in the late 1890s. In the mid-1910s a red brick structure replaced the older wooden structure. It was built and operated by the Catholic Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. Printed at the top of the postcard is "Hotel Dieu, Beaumont, Texas." Printed on the back of the postcard is the following information regarding the postcard's creation: "9732." The George O'Brien Millard School was a public elementary school in Beaumont started about 1910 and sometimes known as just Millard School. George O'Brien Millard was a prominent Beaumont citizen who helped develop the public school system in Beaumont. Printed on the top left of the postcard is "Geo. B. Millard School, Beaumont, Texas."
