[Hotel Dieu Hospital]

Postcard of Hotel Dieu hospital, located on the banks of the Neches River near Sabine Pass Avenue and Emmett Avenue. Hotel Dieu was first opened in the late 1890s. In the mid-1910s a red brick structure replaced the older wooden structure. It was built and operated by the Catholic Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. Printed at the top of the postcard is "Hotel Dieu, Beaumont, Texas." Printed on the back of the postcard is the following information regarding the postcard's creation: "9732." Handwritten on the back of the postcard, "We certainly like it down here. this is a beautiful place. What are you all doing Let me hear from you." The card is addressed to Miss Mal Pilcherton Indiana Penna.
