Letter from Mario Marcel Salas, president of the Black Coalition on Mass Media (BCMM), to William B. Ray of the Complaints and Compliance Division at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). He writes to request a 60 day extension for a petition to deny renewal of the KAPE radio license. He also asks that no renewal be given by the FCC until they are able to complete their investigation. The requests are made on the grounds that KAPE refused to provide BCMM members a copy of their 1974 renewal application, which is against the law.

The wedding party is still at the front of the sanctuary, and there are guests seated in the pews on either side. The bride is wearing a wedding dress with a hat and veil, and the groom is wearing a white tuxedo jacket with black pants.

[Bills of Sale of a Slave Named Nancy, June 18, 1838]

Bills of sale of a slave named Nancy. The initial bill was written by notary William Christy in New Orleans, Louisiana. Jacob Sevy is selling Nancy, approximately 15, to John Covington Thomas of Gainsville, Alabama, for $1,200. Handwritten bills are added explaining that John C. Thomas sells Nancy to James Chessher in August 1838 for $3,000, who in turn sells her to Stephen Jackson of Jefferson County, Texas, in 1840 for $1,000. A separate paper is included with a description of this document.
