[Texas Building During Renovation]

Photograph of the front of the Texas Building during renovations, a three-story brick building with scaffolding on the first and second floors and many of the windows boarded up; the photograph was taken from across the courthouse lawn. Note: "The purpose of the renovation project, according to owner Jack Hudspeth of Ash Properties, was to bring back its traditional look. The Texas Building opened in January of 1926 although it did not go by that name at the time. The building cost $100,000 and had an elevator service. The original owners were O. M. Curtis and W. E. Smoot. It acquired its current name in 1965; it also went through extensive remodeling in that year. The work in 1994 began in January with the outside work beginning of June. The architects were Russell and Mike Bates; Tim Beatty Builders did the construction work and the financing was provided by First State Bank." DRC June 17, 1994.
