Oral History Interview with George Allen Holekamp, September 27, 2000

Interview with George Allen Holekamp, a rancher and descendant of Kerr County settlers from Kerrville, Texas. Mr. Holekamp details his family's history in Kerr County. He mentions that his ancestors included farmers, ranchers, and shingle-makers. He and his wife Mary Virginia Stevens are still involved in ranching and community activities, and their legacy continues on with their children. In his stories of ranching, he discusses ranchers' struggles with screwworm infestations and Brucellosis (Bang's Disease), the Bracero program, the Rural Electrification Association, and the Sheep and Goats Raisers Auxiliary.

[Dallas Fire Department Ambulance Repair]

Photograph of a Dallas Fire Department ambulance parked facing the inside of a large, fire station garage door. The ambulance is missing its wheels, bumpers, and most of its body around the engine. There is a man working on the front of the ambulance, which is propped up by a large car jack. On the floor surrounding the ambulance are tools, an anvil resting on top of a wooden block, a large tank with hoses, a small tool chest resting on top of a rolling chest, and discarded scrap pieces. There is a stamp on the back of the photograph with the date the photo was taken.

Postcard addressed to Mayme Collins with an illustrated picture of the interior of the "Cathedral of the Sacred Heart" in Dallas, Texas. In this illustration there is a large crowd of people in the pews and members of the Church up closer towards the altar; on the reverse side there is a note that says: "Hello Mayme I wish you were with us."
