Postcard of the Providence Fire Department riding a horse-drawn fire engine to a fire, moving diagonally towards the foreground. Two fire fighters are at the front of the vehicle, seven are standing on its side, and one is on the ladder at the back. The sender has left a handwritten note at the back of the postcard; it says, "Please pardon delay due to not having the kind you desire on hand. I like hospitals, monuments, and light horses, best of all - then anything interesting or pleasing to look at. I am going away next week for the rest of the summer, so you can address to Chilmark, M.A. [...]"
