Following the briefing was an all-day workshop, Friday, June 21 which was attended by staff representatives from each consortium in the Institute, to discuss grant proposals which with offer opportunities for staff development and curriculum implementation in the visual arts. Enclosed at the end of the letter to Wright is information the functional committees and their list of responsibilities, for the upcoming Matching Funds Advisory Committee and Wright's assistance in its regard. Reynolds writes that Jack Davis, Bill McCarter and herself have worked with Ollie Theisen to present a teacher workshop in conjunction with Bigger's exhibit in Mount Pleasant and she is working with others to produce an education video for the students and are requesting Biggers permission to use some of his images in the video. Mentioning a meeting, that Nasher chaired on, which energized the entire faculty and how disappointed McCarter is, because of scheduling conflicts, that Nasher will be unable to participate in the leadership retreat scheduled for June 1. McCarter also mentions literature that he forwarded to Nasher and hopes the he understands the enthusiasm for the concepts behind the NTIEVA's projects. McCarter then mentions that Dallas I.S.D. was unable to continue as a consortium district because of finalized details, yet McCarter hopes to reactivate Dallas after meeting with Howard Dunn and conversing with Janice Wiggins. Wiggins requested that the grant money, intended to be used for support of Dallas I.S.D's participation in the Secondary Institute be used to stipends for participants of the Elementary Institute instead. Davis writes back that this is not possible for several reason which he encloses in the letter, the first being that he does not want to jeopardize the relationship with his funders by using the grants for something that was not made clear in the condition when the money was given. Davis explains that if the money is not used for its original intended purpose for which they were in agreement, then they are obligated to return the money back.
