In regards to an invitation Batiste had received from Harold M. Williams, President of the J. Paul Getty Trust, to attend a dinner on January 12, 1995 in connection with the Getty Center's national conference. Duke is writing to give more information on the conference, which is being held from January 11th - 14th at the Washington Hilton and Towers in Washington, D.C. The three day conference will feature speakers from business, education, government and the arts.

In regards to having to cancel a planned site visit for April due to scheduling conflict with the Trust to work on the FY94 budget. Rosenberg writes that she'll make a planned site visit to the Fort Worth institute sometime in the summer and will let them know by May when those dates will be.

Cason writes that she and Bill McCarter enjoyed meeting up with Brooks and Janice Wiggins to discuss the goals for the DISD students. Cason she has also spoken with Marjorie King and mentioned how King was helpful in explaining Dallas's reading initiative program. Canson hopes that Wiggins will be able to participate in the Institute this summer and that the stipend will be worth the contribution for the impact she'll make to the Institute.

In regards to an invitation sent by NTIEVA to Corpus Christi ISD to form a partnership. CCISD's initial plan includes the formation of a partnership with the Art Museum of South Texas to develop a Satellite Consortium in South Texas and to write a five-year plan to providing quality art education programs in South Texas. CCISD district looks forward to the opportunities with North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts might provide for the students.

Broadus mentions that a lot of art related activities could be made with the pieces from the museum's collection, and enclosed information Sellmeyer could use as she begins to think about developing teacher packets.

In regards to the upcoming Young Audiences conference being held from April 24th to the 28th in Dallas. Jericho has mentioned that he asked Jeffrey Patchen to be a speaker on Saturday, the 27th and that Patchen has sent a confirmation of his appearance, however, Jericho writes that his budget is limited and was wondering of Davis is interested in having him come talk to his students and staff. Jericho has also written to Bill McCarter to ask if they are interested in Patchen for the institute.

In regards of scheduling a two-week summer institute at the Dallas Museum of Art teachers in the Dallas Independent School District. McCarter is hoping that the DMA could provide a laboratory for the fellows to have a "capstone" experience that would benefit the DMA, NTIEVA, DISD and the Marcus Foundation from such a collaboration. An issue McCarter addresses is finding the money to pay the teachers for attending, possibly a shared cost between the district and NTIEVA, he ends the letter saying many details have to be worked out. Regarding that North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts has recently become an affiliate distributor of the National Gallery of Art, receiving a selection of resources from the National Gallery in Washington, D.C., including slide programs and videocassettes. The resources are located in NTIEVA's office for free loan to consortium members and the art faculty of UNT. Programs on the slides cover, artists, museums, architecture, painting and other extensive materials.

Broadus writes that when she visited the school the past Wednesday, Sylvia Russel shared Pedigo's Mid-East unit and how art was included into the study. NTIEVA will be working with PPISD for the next five years and Broadus wants Pedigo to be apart of the program to help teachers integrate visual arts.

The letter is an enclosed summary of the evaluations from Fletcher's secondary institute. Reynolds writes that NTIEVA is excited about the positive results and are happy that they reflect the success of the Institute. Reynolds continues, wanting to let Fletcher know that the Ghost Ranch Spring Retreat idea has become reality, and that she'll send details in the upcoming newsletter. The retreat is for twenty adults for the nights of March 14 - 18 at Ghost Ranch Conference Center north of Aliquiu, New Mexico. Reynolds mentions that participants can go on to mini-seminars and excursions or just enjoy free time and relax. Attached to the letter is Fletcher's evaluation summary.

In regards to the Latino Art and Culture exhibition being held at the Smithsonian Institution and how most of the teachers in the NTIEVA program are teaching at schools with a large percentage of Latino students. The teachers are having a problem finding quality materials associated with Latino artists and McCarter is interested in having the institute devote a portion of their time to the Latino Art and having Wyrick come to the Texas institute to introduce new instruction packages.

At the meeting the art specialists will be responsible for presenting their commercial art packages to the Institute with the objective of promoting ways implementing art programs into existing curriculum.
