The memo is in regards to the SERC devloping its in-service and staff development offerings for the 1992 - 1993 school year. The memo is in regards to urgent information for the May, 1994 regional institute directors' meeting. Due to unforeseen scheduling obstacles, Leilani Lattin Duke will be unable to attend the director's meeting on Friday, May 7th, 1994. To accommodate this, Duke requests that the directors' meeting in Laguna Beach be moved back one day.

A press release for The Barnes Collection having an exhibition at the Kimbell Art Museum, the exhibit "Impressionist Masterpieces from the Barnes Collection: Cezanne to Matisse," will be shown from April 14th, 1994 through August 14th, 1994 on loan from the Barnes Foundation. The Kimbell Art Museum is also offering a series of lectures by art historians and artists to talk about Albert C. Barnes and his art collection. Dr. William McCarter, Regents Professor at the University of North Texas will be giving his lectures, May 27th.

A newspaper clipping featuring an image of Hodge Elementary students walking through a tropical rain forest at their school. The rain forest was constructed by the students through an art education program which teachers use to reinforce the curriculum.

A letter from the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts consortia to Leilani Lattin Duke, Director of the Getty Center for Education in the Arts and Vicki Rosenberg, program officer. The letter is an expression of concern from the consortia who met prior to discuss the recent evaluation of the Institute. In the letter they have listed several of their concerns about the process and reporting methods used by the Center to evaluate. While the Institute understands the need to evaluate their efforts it has questioned their continued partnership and the entire collaboration and its impact for the future. The memo is in regards to the Directors' meeting in Santa Barbara. Leilani Lattin Duke mentioned the ASCD newsletter devoted to discipline-based theater education at the meeting and Rosenberg has a attached a copy of the issue.

This newsletter informs about William McCarter and Jack Davis having presented "Multiculturalism: Visual Perspectives" to the Association of General Education International Conference in Denton. McCarter and Davis also presented "Visual Arts in Context: Arts Program in Schools at a Music Symposium 92: Growing and Developing in the Arts.

An article written by Mark Stedman, Daily Report for the North Texas Daily, titled "First Nasher Series draws full house." The article mentions Patsy and Raymond Nasher, who for the past forty-years have been building a contemporary sculpture collection. An evening with Raymond Nasher who lectured at the Eagle Student Services Building Lecture Hall brought many people to listen as the lecture was the installment of the Patsy and Raymond Nasher Lecture Series in Contemporary Sculpture and Criticism. Dr. Jack Davis, dean of the College of Visual Arts, anticipates that this annual event will become one of the premier lectures series on a international basis.

A newsletter written by Nancy Berry, an associate Professor of Art Education and Art History and Area Coordinator for Art Education / Visual Arts Studies at the University of North Texas, for Art Education, titled "A Focus On Art Museum / School Collaborations." Berry's article questions why it is important for school children to learn work of art from the museum environment and explores the nature of art museums / school collaborations to shed light on the questions.

A memo from Stevie Mack, assistant director of Improving Instruction in Visual Arts Education, to the IVAE consultants. The memo is in regards to the the scheduled IVAE Consultant Meeting in Los Angeles for the dates May 29th - June 2nd, 1990. Mack writes in the memo that he'd like everyone in attendance at the dinner meeting on Tuesday at 6 pm and that the conference will end after dinner on June 2nd for a Sunday June 3rd departure from the hotel. The rest of the memo details hotel reservations, transportation and important notes.
