A news release in regards to a delegation from the People's Republic of China visiting the University of North Texas from June 23 - 24 to learn about a unique program that uses art to improve public schools. The five officials will attend the two days offered by North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts where they will observe a leadership academy and then observe art being integrated into the classroom.

Denton ISD art teacher and instructor in the camp, Deborah Gentile said the children will learn and have fun while they study difference cultures and countries of Asia and study the history of their art. The students will product artwork using Asian ideas and methods.

A letter from Lee Hanson, Art Coordinator at Palo Alto Unified School District, to R. William McCarter, Co-director at North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, about Hanson's developments on their elementary art curriculum. Hanson has developed a unit that vertically slice through the grades, all organized by a big idea. They started with a multi-faceted big idea that would be addressed as components at various grade levels. They continue to describe their confusion about what The Getty Center for Education in Arts purpose for having them curriculum writing, Hanson ends the letter hoping McCarter and Hanson meet again at some point.

They are going to be touring the Sid Richardson Collection, the Kimbell Art Museum and the Amon Center Carter Museum with R. William McCarter, NTIEVA Co-director and Regent Professor of art at UNT.

A travel itinerary for Chinese delegates for the dates of June 11-26, 1997. These Chinese delegates came to Dallas to observe and earn about a the NTIEVA program that uses art to improve public schools. The delegates are Yang Li, Deputy Director General for the Department of Physical Health and Art Education, Yang Ruimin, Secretary General for State Art Education Commission, Lu Zhaoxiang, Chief of Shaanxi Provincial Education Commission, Wang Jun, Program Officer for Beijing Municpal Education Commission, and Wei Liqing, Chief of Division of American and Oceanic Affairs. On Wednesday, June 11, the delegates are to arrive to Los Angeles at 9:15 am. They are to visit the J. Paul Getty Museum in Malibu at 2:00pm. On June 12 they are to meet with Mr. Williams, President of the J. Paul Getty Trust and tour the Getty Center. On June 14 the delegates will depart Los Angeles at 6:49am and arrive at Dallas at 11:45am to then depart from Dallas at 12:46pm to arrive at Omaha at 2:44pm. From June 14-20, the delegates will attend the Nebraska Institute and leave on June 21 at 11:40am to Dallas. They will have a tour of Fort Worth and to Denton to …

A letter from Mary Buke, Sid Richardson Collection of Western Art, to R. William McCarter, Co-director for the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, about setting up a a tour for McCarter and his guest at the Collection of Western Art for June 21, 1997. Burke regrets to inform McCarter that she is unable to greet the group, but Debi Carl, the museum's administrative assistant, will guide the group along. Burke enclosed ten copies of the Downtown Fort Worth Walking Tour, the Sundance Square brochure, the Sid Richardson brochure, and one copy each of the Sid Richardson Gallery Guide, Ft. Worth Visitors Guide, and the Fort Worth Cultural District Visitors Guide.
