The recommendation letter is in regards to the news of the Met's consideration of having one of UNT's graduate students, Rebecca Arkenberg, hold an internship in Howes's department. McCarter goes on to write about how wonderful of a student Arkenberg is and that he'll be sad to see her go but her skills are superb beyond others and her work with North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts is exemplary.

McCarter writes that he has reviewed the draft of the National Arts Standards, paying close attention to the implication for aesthetics in art. Describing his recent trip to Canada, McCarter mentions that many presentations encountered the same problems in identifying common traits found in art. McCarter continues to say he does not see the dilemma in using the word aesthetic as it means various things to different people.

Along with, the Amon Carter, Dallas Museum of Art, Kimbell Art Museum, Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Greater Denton Arts Council, and the Fort Worth Arts Council. The purpose of the education reformation program is to bring art knowledge, skills and understanding of art production, art history and criticism into the classroom.

Hispanic Outlook magazine, featuring an article on the Getty Trust. The Getty Center has seven realms under their belt, museums, five institutions and a grant program, their mission is to reach out to groups, typically groups that are underrepresented in the art world. The Getty shows that students who take art courses consistently score higher in both math and verbal parts of the SATs, as such the Getty Education Institute for the Arts has teamed with the Annenberg Foundation and the National Arts Education Consortium to select and fund thirty-six Arts Partner Schools.

A newsletter, Education Week, American Education's Newspaper of Record, Editorial Projects in Education, Vol. 8, No. 11. Featuring an article, "In Pittsburgh: New Approaches to Testing Track Arts 'Footprints'." 7th grade violinist listen to two versions of "Chop Sticks" and are asked to write about what was good or bad about the performances, what could be better and how the ensemble can improve it. The exercise is part of an experiment research program in music, visual arts and creative writing by Harvard University's Project Zero, the Educational Testing Services and Pittsburgh Public Schools known as Arts Propel.
