The students have become as serious about art criticism as professional critics. Changes in art curriculum are being implemented statewide as part of a package of sweeping education reforms approved by the Texas Legislature in 1981. McCarter also mentions literature that he forwarded to Nasher and hopes the he understands the enthusiasm for the concepts behind the NTIEVA's projects. McCarter then mentions that Dallas I.S.D. was unable to continue as a consortium district because of finalized details, yet McCarter hopes to reactivate Dallas after meeting with Howard Dunn and conversing with Janice Wiggins. McCarter ends the letter expressing concern about funding for the Institute. Copied on the letter is Rick Brettell.
