In regards to the National Gallery Videodisc Competition, a competition that North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts had entered. Attached to the letter is a copy of the new release from the Nation Gallery in Washington, D.C. Reynolds writes that they will be one of the recipients of the American Art videodisc and that she encourages other school districts to apply as there are a number of spots still available and the Gallery has extended their deadline. Thanking Wright for his prompt response and letter of support of Dallas ISD participating as a consortium member in the planning a grant proposal, to be sent to the Getty Center for the Arts in Education. McCarter mentions that Janice Wiggins appears to have excessive demands by the district, and he would like to discuss options of relieving Wiggins of some of her responsibilities.

Asking if he recalls the lasting Advisory Committee meeting they had in which they set two priority goals. Their first goal to seek continued support for their Portfolio project and their second, to generate potential names for additional committee members. In the letter Davis, McCarter and Reynolds are pleased to report that the Edward and Betty Marcus Foundation has agreed to fully fund the portfolio project and it will be underway once their Summer Institute project is over. In the letter, they ask Anthony if he has any recommendations for committee members and to contact them through note of phone call. Additionally in the letter are details about the Institute's schedule for the summer, and a formal invitations for Anthony to join any them if his schedules allows.

In regards to Broadus modeling a DBAE, discipline-based art education, lesson for the teachers and participants at the meeting in Pilot Point and hoping they picked up something they will be able to use for their own classrooms. Broadus ends the letter with details about the upcoming visitation with a man named Vicente, for a "Potter on the Porch" lesson.

Iin regards of Dallas' participation in the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts. McCarter and Cason write that after reviewing their budget they have found that they will be able to fund one team from DISD at 100% for the first year at the Institute, yet after one year they are unsure that they'll be able to get more funding from the Getty Center to allow Dallas as a consortium. Included at the end of the letter is a mock-up of what Dallas will be entitled to during their Summer institute Services.

McCarter then mentions an agreement between Dr. Marvin Edwards and the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, stating that Edwards could provide six art teachers who will devote time towards the DBAE program, and ask Wiggins if Edwards or other officials could be reminded of the commitment and honor it. If the Institute is not able to document the in-kind contribution by the district, NTIEVA is in trouble with both the Getty and the Marcus Foundation. McCarter ends the letter saying he'll call in the next few days to discuss the best course of action. Copied on the letter is Jack Davis.

In regards Chapman being unable to attend either of the principal's sessions during the 1991 Summer Institute and that the institute was a real success due to the great measure of the contributions of the classroom teachers and art specialists, named as such, Marilyn Duncan, Laurie Bargsley and Pam Stephens. McCarter and Davis end the letter that each school teacher are to complete a plan for the DBAE implementation into their classrooms and that Chapman is to review the plan with his staff.

A newspaper clipping on the newly constructed Getty Center museum and during the opening in December, Dr. William McCarter and Dr. Jack Davis were there. McCarter and Davis, co-directors of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, visited the Getty Center because of the institutions's ties to UNT, NTIEVA is funded in part by the Getty Education.

As a graduate student in fine arts, Ms. Gowland returns to Denton to lead the Hurst-Euless-Bedford section of the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts.

A letter from the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts consortia to Leilani Lattin Duke, Director of the Getty Center for Education in the Arts and Vicki Rosenberg, program officer. The letter is an expression of concern from the consortia who met prior to discuss the recent evaluation of the Institute. In the letter they have listed several of their concerns about the process and reporting methods used by the Center to evaluate. While the Institute understands the need to evaluate their efforts it has questioned their continued partnership and the entire collaboration and its impact for the future. The letter was signed by, Jack Davis, William McCarter, Kathy Walsh-Piper, Gail Davitt, Aileen Horan, Allison Perkins, Linda Powell and Maria Teresa Garcia-Pedroche.

A letter from Mary Ann Stankiewicz, program officer for the Getty Center for Education in the Arts, to the Regional Institute Directors. In the letter, Stankiewicz says that she is leaving her position as program officer at the Getty Center for Education in the Arts effective October 8, 1992. Starting November 2, 1992, Stankiewicz says she will be the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs at the Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. The letter she gives her new work address, telephone and fax number. The move to Florida will also affect her husband, David Ebitz, also November 2 he will be the director of the Ringling Museum of Art. cc'd on the letter is Vicki Rosenberg.

A hand-written report of collected data from the Getty Center and North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts discipline-based art education project. The report totals up the proposals submitted to a variety of foundations that have rejected or supported the art education reform. The data begins during the 1990 year and follows through 1994 tallying up all the continued or discontinued supports from their consortia.

News from the University of North Texas, Office of Public Affairs and Information services, titled "Swedish art educators visit UNT, observe teaching methods." The news reads that a group of visual arts educators from Sweden will spend three days observing how UNT is working with schools, museums and galleries to incorporate art into the general classroom curricula. On October 19th, the group will visit the office of the university's North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts to learn about the institute's Transforming Education through the Arts Challenge. October 20th the group will visit the metroplex schools and on October 21st they will visit the museums and galleries. The news document states to contact Kelley Reese for inquires. A handwritten note at the top of the document reads, "Pam Stephens, MTIEVA."

Photocopy of a letter from Carol Hinkley Thompson, Office of Advancement University of North Texas to Jack Davis, Vice Provost and Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs, co-director of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts. In regards to, Davis and his staff meeting up with Brent Berryman, UNT alumnus and Director of FTV Foundation, Alex Bickley and the Project Seed representatives. Thompson asks that Davis keep her informed of anything future involvement with guests after visiting the UNT Campus and has been in touch with Berryman, who has begun putting things together for his Chairman. Thompson also writes that David Wallace, another UNT alumnus is also working on an education reform and is looking to visit the campus soon.

The letter is in regards to the Friday meeting with Davis, McCarter and Dr. Simms and Dr. Ponder to explore the possibilities in their proposal.
