Recording of Raja Jamsheed Ali Khan reciting "Maghlot ke Girkits" ('weasel and rat') in the Srinagar dialect. In this popular story two boys are born conjoined, and are separated by a knife. The two brothers are raised by two separate clans, always meeting in constant contention with each other, giving them the nicknames Maghlot ('weasel') and Girkits ('rat') for their physical and behavioral traits. Knowing the brothers would create instability, the king separates the kingdom into two halves, creating the divide between the Hunza and the Nagar people.

In the video, a young boy steals a basket of pears from a farmer, then shares the stolen pears with three boys. This is a recording of H. Surmangol Sharma’s retelling of the Pear Story.

When the teacher entered the class, he slipped on one of the apricots and consequently punished the student. The speakers also recall several other stories/events in this session.

One of the daughters asks for a locket, but shortly after receiving her gift, she loses it in the river. A jackal tricks her and eventually she is rescued by her brother. The story is narrated by Sosan Jan, a 54-year old housewife from Danna.

Recording of a traditional narrative where a cunning wife puts her husband to test by pretending to be ill all the time. The husband uses all possible means to cure her but to no avail. He then asks his wife to suggest what else he could do to cure her. She asks him to disgrace his mother. He disgraces her mother instead. His wife is shocked to see this. However, he responds to her saying that he did what she had asked him to do in order to cure her illness. The narrator Abdul Qayum (a 60-year old male factory worker) is narrating the story to two young speakers of Mankiyali (Abdul Haq and Aurangzeb).

Then, they tell the whole story from start to finish. In this case, the final step of re-telling the story from another perspective was skipped because there was no third participant.
