Contract between Mary E. Sayles and J. W. Dooley in which Sayles agrees to lease 177 acres of land in Stephens county at certain rates and under certain conditions to Mr. Dooley. Title at the top of the document reads, "(Copy.) This Lease in Duplicate. (This the duplicate.)"

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Philip C. McGahey, Pastor, First Baptist Church, Breckenridge, Texas, dated February 24, 1941. McGahey reports on his actions to get an interest in the Drys including giving the letter to Mr. Waller but that Waller gave it back without comment. He voices his lack of hope to see much done in his county.

A letter written to Commander Carswell, from Sid Bowers, Post Comm., The American Legion, Bernice Coles Post No. 191, Breckenridge, Texas. Bowers issues an invitation to Carswell to attend their annual Post and Auxilliary Banquet in Breckenridge advising that Dr. Sadler of TCU will speak. Carswell penciled a notation regarding having answered this letter on 2/16/43.

Wash and he were in Abilene to see if he could help them "get an under-cover man to catch some of the boot-leggers in their town".

A request that Carswell compile his resolutions concerning The Good Citizenship Leaque and mail them to Rev. L. V. Reazin, secretary for the organization.

Letter from J. D. Sandefer Jr. to Mrs. Pender, Mrs. Pittard, Mrs. Moody, Mrs. McAden, and Mr. Carter concerning a photo he found while at his mother’s house in Abilene. He includes a limerick that he describes as “unfair to use.”

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from "Jake" [J. D. Sandefer, Jr.], Breckenridge, Texas, dated July 26, 1950. Sandefer expresses his appreciation for Carswell's "interest in that little Mother of mine" and assures him that she enjoyed the recent visit from Carswell.

A letter written to T. N. Carswell, from J. D. Sandefer, Jr., Breckenridge, Texas, dated October 10, 1950. Sandefer expresses his appreciation for the talk Carswell gave at his Mother's funeral and for his and Mrs. Carswell's attention to her during her "late days on this earth". He advises him that she loved Carswell as though he were her own.

A letter addressed to Mr. & Mrs. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from "Jake" [J. D. Sandefer, Jr.], Breckenridge, Texas, dated March 21, 1951. Sandefer issues an invitation to attend the annual sunrise service Easter morning including breakfast at the Wooten Hotel. He notes that each year they discuss discontinuing the annual get-together, yet, continue.

The reverse side includes correspondence to Mr. Carswell from Hoyle Legg dated March 19, 1956. Legg expresses his disappointment that he wasn't home when Carswell visited advising that he was at the lake fishing and invites Carswell to return and spend a day fishing.

A letter written to T. N. Carswell from "Jake" [J. D. Sandefer, Jr.], Breckenridge, Texas, dated December 28, 1959. Sandefer expresses his appreciation for the note from Carswell stating that he has always felt like Carswell was 'kin' -"the same as Gib". He discusses his health issues and thanks Carswell again for his note.

Letter from Jack Cox to Truett Latimer thanking him for sending word about the television program in which Mr. Latimer and French Robertson discussed the tax problem. Mr. Cox says he was unable to see the program and asks him how it went.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell and Mr. Harvey Brown, Abilene, Texas from "Jake" [J. D. Sandefer, Jr.], Breckenridge, Texas, dated April 19, 1965. Copy to Grace Compere, Gib Sandefer and Bill J. Walker. Sandefer expresses the appreciation from Grace, Gib and himself for the flowers that Carswell and Brown placed on his parent's graves and advises of his "acquired knowledge" that A. J. Morgan had planted the bluebonnets years ago.

A letter written to Tommy Carswell from Jake [J. D. Sandefer, Jr.], Breckenridge, Texas, dated February 29, 1972. Sandefer expresses their appreciation for the "thoughtful long-hand letter" of Sunday the 27th confiding their knowledge that Carswell has similar problems and closes the letter by stating, "It is useless to tell you that we consider you a member of the family".
