Carswell from W. R. Gilliam Adjutant, Burt Fleming Post 237, Junction Texas dated October 8, 1942. Gilliam acknowledges the receipt of the letter from Carswell dated September 26, 1942 and requests the names of the District Membership Chairmen explaining, the job being new to him and with dead Posts that will be hard to revive, that any hints from Carswell would be appreciated.

"No man can succeed politically without a host of good friends who are willing to aid the efforts he puts forth to become acquainted with the voters." Stevenson expresses his appreciation for the knowledge that "so many people are willing to lend a helping hand" and advises Carswell of his hope of seeing him while in his community, that he will be glad to have "the benefit of his suggestions and advice".
