Carswell explains concerning the District Governorship election and the intention of the Abilene club to propose Lion Green for the Governorship. Carswell writes, "We of the Abilene club are of the opinion, Col. Perry, that Lionism can be best served by your re-election — if you elect not to serve we will push Lion Green's candidacy".
