Adams expresses his regrets that he was not able to be in Abilene to cast a vote for Carswell and assures of his willingness to do his part to make the coming year one of the best for the 5th Division.

A letter written to Commander T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Lon R. Adams, Commander Post 194, Rotan, Texas, dated June 10th 1941. Adams advises of an outdoor program to be held advising that their state commander Ed Ridel will attend and issues an invitation for Carswell to "round up your boys and bring them over".

Jones, chairman of the United Drys of Fisher County to inform ministers of the status of the fight regarding the Prescription Liquor Bill and a request for financial help from "those who hate liquor worse than they do a rattlesnake".

A letter addressed to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Charlie A. Jones, Rotan, Texas, dated September 2, 1942. Jones explains to Carswell that his letter addressed to O. D. Henley was given to him. Jones advises that the enclosed resolution was adopted by their association and that there were some heated talks all in favor of the resolution. He suggested that Carswell might phone Dr. Walton of Hardin-Simmons for his version as he listened in on the proceedings. Jones assures Carswell that he is at his service, that his stand on the liquor question has cost him three political campaigns and that he will probably be a contender for the place John Lee Smith is vacating in the Senate. The enclosed resolution condemns the alcohol traffic and charges the reader with the responsibility "of keeping the soldier boys safe."

A letter written to J. D. Riddle, Abilene, Texas, from Thos. J. Young, Roby, Texas, dated January 17, 1941. Young discusses the support of the movement which they received from the local people advising Riddle that they have some real problems in Fisher County.

A letter written to Mr. M. T. Wilson, Clerk, Local Board No. 1, Roby, Texas, from T. N. Carswell dated May 12, 1944. Carswell acknowledges receipt of the letter from Wilson dated April 11 and advises that the forwarding of mail from Abilene to Austin is slow. He advises of recording issues in Form 100 and suggests that Wilson leave the line on the form blank until it is decided whether or not to reclassify the registrant for service.

He advises that as it is now the IV-F classification is the only indication that the men have been up for examination. The letter is typewritten on SELECTIVE SERVICE SYSTEM letterhead bearing stamp of Local Board No. 1, Fisher County, Roby, Texas.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from Tate May, President, The Farmers and Merchants National Bank dated June 7, 1952. May acknowledges his receipt of the letter from Carswell notifying him of a meeting and dinner to be held on June 12 and accepts the invitation.

Letter from Truett Latimer to John H. Alvis; Mr. Latimer assures that he would oppose any move to take away counties from their District Court but asks Mr. Alvis not to make his position known. He thinks they can keep the bill tied up in the committee and wants to avoid any possible fighting. He also mentions extending Highway 36 from Abilene to Roby which he says would need the full support of the people in Fisher County.
