A bank note with the following text: "Pay to Thomas Norwood Carswell, or bearer 1000 thanks - one thousand large thanks - upon receipt of 1 beautiful animal in perfect condition. Written and signed by Marie Katherine D. High. No 111110 - Exchange National Bank, Denton, Texas dated April 17, 1916." The note refers to a piano presented to the Faculty and Trustees of Simmons College by the 1915 Senior Class. This item was originally part of a scrapbook assembled by Thomas Norwood Carswell, largely containing items related to his time at Simmons College (Abilene, Texas).
