Glass Slide of the Brook Cherith (Israel)

A glass slide showing a man on horseback crossing the Brook Cherith. In the Hebrew Bible, the prophet Elijah hid himself on the banks of the Cherith and was fed by ravens during the early part of the three years' drought which he announced to King Ahab (1 Kings 17:3). The brook is usually identified with Wadi al-Yabis, a stream in western Jordan, which flows into the Jordan River. On the frame of the slide is printed "T.H. McAllister, Manufacturing Optician, 49 Nassau Street, New York. On the reverse, the slide is numbered No 7273.
