Carswell, Fifth Division Commander, The American Legion, Abilene, Texas, from Jennings Monk, 21st District Commander, The American Legion, Kerrville, Texas, dated September 20, 1942. Monk acknowledges the receipt of the letter from Carswell and submits his recommendation of W.R. Gilliam of Junction, Texas for the Membership Committee. He advises of the conflicting dates of the District Convention with the Executive Committee meeting and the resulting compromises.

(pause) we had a delicious chicken barbeque and a swell time. We went into the cave etc. Everything was very good. I went to Nashville Sat. nite and stayed till yesterday (Sun 4:00 pm) Send my gas ration book immediately. Bro. Woodie."
