A letter addressed to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Lyndon B. Johnson, United States Senate, Office of the Democratic Leader, dated May 13, 1959. Johnson advises Carswell of the attachment of a memorandum which outlines in detail the reasons for his objections to the original version of the McClellan amendment. He defends his objections to the original version which granted too much power to the Secretary of Labor and defends his support for the adopted, rewritten amendment.
