Solution-processed dielectric films and Au RF antenna for temperature sensing (open access)

Solution-processed dielectric films and Au RF antenna for temperature sensing

Article discusses how sensing temperature is important for a wide variety of applications such as control systems and instrumentation which are integral to various industrial sectors and in research settings. The authors emphasize the importance of high sensitivity and reliable methods using a frequency-based approach for detecting temperature changes. In their study, Au rectangular single-arm spiral antennas with varying sizes were fabricated and RF S-parameter measurements were conducted over the frequency range of 300 kHz to 20 GHz. Alongside the experimental measurements, they also present results from their simulation analysis conducted using High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) from ANSYS.

Personal narrative about the 2022 Assam floods

Munin Basumatary is an assistant teacher who speaks Bengali, Hindi, English, and Assamese in addition to Boro, 47 years old at the time of recording. He discusses how the flood has retreated for the past two years. He discusses how the population was impacted by inaccessible rainfall. He claims that the Dhemaji area is renowned for its flooding. He claimed to have witnessed the flood when he was a child. He claimed that they had to wear "gamsa" instead of the uniform long pants to school since they would get wet otherwise. He stated that due to the water, they were frequently unable to attend school. He claims that the flood was so devastating that no one was able to assist anyone who had suffered food or financial loss. Recorded in Gogamukh, Bathoupuri.

Inkjet-printed graphene’s electrical response to external gas flow for sensing applications (open access)

Inkjet-printed graphene’s electrical response to external gas flow for sensing applications

Article discusses how understanding gas flow behavior is crucial in the ability of materials to sense toxic gasses for environmental, industrial, safety, agriculture, and related applications. In their study, the authors measure the electrical transport characteristics of ink jet printed graphene to incoming gas flow, specifically to N2 and CO2. This work serves as a prototypical platform to study the device characteristics of solution processed graphene and other 2D materials for more exotic gases in the future for gas sensing applications.

Stability and degradation in triple cation and methyl ammonium lead iodide perovskite solar cells mediated via Au and Ag electrodes (open access)

Stability and degradation in triple cation and methyl ammonium lead iodide perovskite solar cells mediated via Au and Ag electrodes

Article focuses on the fact that there are no clear mechanisms for the interaction of electrode-induced absorber degradation pathways. Furthermore, the authors hypothesize that the formation of AgI in the PSCs, leads to corrosion of the perovskite absorber, as opposed to the benign AuI when Au electrodes are used in the solar cell stack.

Scalable, top-down optical lithography for electrically contacting monolayer crystallites of vapor grown WSe2 for gas sensing applications

Article discusses how semiconducting two-dimensional transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have garnered a great deal of interest owing to their large surface-to-volume ratios compared to traditional three-dimensional (3D) semiconductors, and focuses on a specific TMD; tungsten diselenide (WSeâ‚‚). In their study, the authors demonstrate the halide-assisted low-pressure chemical vapor deposition (HA-LPCVD) of high crystalline-quality, monolayer WSeâ‚‚.

Corrosion Inhibition Effect of Pyridine-2-Thiol for Brass in An Acidic Environment (open access)

Corrosion Inhibition Effect of Pyridine-2-Thiol for Brass in An Acidic Environment

Article states that the inhibitive performance of pyridine-2-thiol added to a corrosive solution was investigated for brass using potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Scanning electron microscopy showed defect free and less scale formation for the inhibited surface but the bare brass surface had larger amounts of scale formation. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and UV-vis spectroscopy was used to investigate surface chemical composition and inhibitor structural changes over time.

Article proposes a powerful and computationally efficient gene-based association test, called Overall. Using extended Simes procedure, Overall aggregates information from three types of traditional gene-based association tests and also incorporates expression quantitative trait locus (eQTL) information into a gene-based association test using GWAS summary statistics. The results show that this newly developed method can identify more significant genes than other methods.
