N-acylethanolamide metabolizing enzymes are upregulated in human neural progenitor-derived neurons exposed to sub-lethal oxidative stress
Article is a study determining whether ReN cells, a superior cell model system for studying neurodevelopment, differentiation, and neuroprotection, express proteins involved in canonical eCB NAE signaling and whether oxidative stress can induce their expression. This study is a first step toward determining how oxidative stress affects CB1, CB2, FAAH, NAAA, and NAPE-PLD expression and their potential defense against oxidative stress.

Adolescents’ Physical Activity and Depressive Symptoms: A Psychosocial Mechanism
Article tests a hypothesized path model of Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) variables (i.e., attitude toward behavior, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, and intention) with physical activity (PA) and depressive symptoms. The findings support the theoretical tenets of TPB and provide empirical evidence of the psychosocial mechanism of PA and depressive symptoms in Chinese adolescents. It suggests that building PA intervention strategies while considering the TPB framework may promote adolescents’ physical and mental health.

agroString: Visibility and Provenance through a Private Blockchain Platform for Agricultural Dispense towards Consumers
Article discusses the large quantities of farm and meat products that rot and are wasted if correct actions are not taken leading to serious health concerns if consumed. Because there is no proper system for tracking and communicating the status of goods to consumers, a right which according to the authors should be a given, they propose a method of increased communication using Corda private blockchain.

Anomalous thermo-osmotic conversion performance of ionic covalent-organic-framework membranes in response to charge variations
Authors of the article systematically investigated how the membrane charge populations affect permselectivity by decoupling their effects from the impact of the pore structure using a multivariate strategy for constructing covalent-organic-framework membranes. The complex interplay between pore-pore interactions in response to charge variations for ion transport across the upscaled nanoporous membranes helps explain the obtained results. This study has far-reaching implications for the rational design of ionic membranes to augment energy extraction rather than intuitively focusing on achieving high densities.

An approach for reliably identifying high-frequency oscillations and reducing false-positive detections
Article states that high-frequency oscillation (HFO), classified as ripples (80-240 Hz) and fast ripples (240-500 Hz), is regarded as a promising biomarker of epilepsy. The authors presented an integrated, multi-layered procedure capable of automatically rejecting HFOs from a variety of common false positives, such as motion, background signals, and sharp transients.

Are Tourists Facilitators of the Movement of Free-Ranging Dogs?
Article discusses how free-ranging dogs are of major conservation concern worldwide as they negatively affect wildlife. Although scientists and governmental agencies are aware of the problem and responsible pet ownership strategies are beginning to be implemented, the tourism sector must be explicitly integrated into wildlife conservation management strategies.

Assessing approaches to learning with nonparametric multidimensional scaling
Article reports on a trace-based assessment of approaches to learning used by middle school aged children who interacted with NASA Mars Mission science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) games in Whyville, an online game environment with 8 million registered young learners. Differences in approach to learning were found illustrating the potential value of the methodology to curriculum and game-based learning designers as well as other creators of online STEM content for pre-college youth.

Associations between volunteering and cognitive impairment: The moderating role of race/ethnicity
Article describes how although volunteering has been shown to benefit cognitive health, there is a paucity of evidence on informal volunteering and subjective measures of cognitive impairment. The author's study aimed to examine the associations of both formal and informal volunteering with older adults' objective and subjective cognition and explore the moderating role of race/ethnicity in such associations.

Autoencoder Composite Scoring to Evaluate Prosthetic Performance in Individuals with Lower Limb Amputation
Authors of the article created an overall assessment metric using a deep learning autoencoder to directly compare clinical outcomes in a comparison of lower limb amputees using two different prosthetic devices—a mechanical knee and a microprocessor-controlled knee. The proposed methods were used on data collected from ten participants with a dysvascular transfemoral amputation recruited for a prosthetics research study.

Biochar aerogel-based electrocatalyst towards efficient oxygen evolution in acidic media
Article argues that traditional acidic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalysts are more prone to be oxidized and corroded as results of unstable carrier structures and variable electronic states of active species, so a high-performing biochar aerogel (BA) based electrocatalyst was realistically designed and synthetized via joint utilization of the terrestrial lignin and seaweed polysaccharide as carbon sources. This work puts forward a novel and effective strategy towards the enhancement of the acidic OER process by rational regulations of the BA and the coupling effect in micro-interface.
