The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an interview with Arthur Griffin. Griffin joined the Navy in late 1942. He served as an aircraft navigator in the Pacific Theater. He volunteered for the Marine Corps and became a second lieutenant. He was assigned to a 5-man squadron and a C-47 at an airfield in La Tontouta, New Caledonia. They were part of the South Pacific Combat Air Transport Command (SCAT). SCAT provided rapid transport of personnel and cargo, including munitions, food, replacement parts, and medical supplies to forward areas. From La Tontouta, they flew to the Solomon Islands, Australia, New Zealand, Espiritu Santo, Guadalcanal and Emirau Island. Griffin speaks of his work as a navigator, and overall life in the military. He returned to the US in May of 1944 and was stationed in El Centro, California. He completed 700 flight hours during his service. Griffin received his discharge in late 1945.

The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an interview with Dwayne Kendall Jose. Jose joined the Army Air Forces in 1942. He received his wings in 1943, and served as a B-26 bomber pilot with the 17th Bomb Group, 12th Air Force. Beginning in mid-1944, he traveled to North Africa, and completed 50 missions over Italy and Germany. They participated in the Italian Campaign and the Battle of the Bulge, bombing air fields, refineries and bridges. He shares vivid details of combat. Jose returned to the U.S. and received his discharge in 1945.

In this recording, the speaker talks about the journey of the forefathers of the Mankiyal tribe came from Kabul (Afghanistan) to Swat via Peshawar (present-day Pakistan), and then onwards from Swat to Shoshni, a village near their current location Danna. According to this account, the language that they speak today was adopted by their ancestors from the Trawara community. The authenticity of the account is to be investigated.

Recording of a story about two brothers in which the elder brother used to oppress the younger brother. The younger brother, by chance, found a magical handmill which made him rich by producing everything that he would demand. The elder brother tried to steal this magical handmill and by his own stupidity and greed he killed himself and also drowned the mill in the river. The contributor Nargis Bibi is a 38-year old housewife.

This is a traditional story about a savage prince who used to marry women and kill them afterwards without any apparent reason. Eventually, he got married to a wise woman who gave him a lesson and turned him into a gentleman. Nargis Bibi is a housewife who is 38 years old at the time of recording.

In this recording, Muhammad Suleman, a 35-year old male teacher, talks about the methods which people in Danna use to clear snow from the rooftops of their homes. Wooden tools are used to brush snow from the roofs of houses when snow builds up on the rooftops. The speaker was born in 1983.

Recording of a monologue about the hardship of a woman's ancestors before they had electricity and other advanced facilities. She notes that her people are lazy and lack unity now that they have commodities, but her ancestors were strong. The speaker is Nargis Bibi (a 40-year old housewife).

Recording of a traditional short story in which there was a competition between sleep and air. Eventually, sleep proved more powerful than air. The contributor, Muhammad Suleman. is a 36-year old male teacher from Danna.
