Retelling of the story of a man and his cunning wife

Recording of a traditional narrative where a cunning wife puts her husband to test by pretending to be ill all the time. The husband uses all possible means to cure her but to no avail. He then asks his wife to suggest what else he could do to cure her. She asks him to disgrace his mother. He disgraces her mother instead. His wife is shocked to see this. However, he responds to her saying that he did what she had asked him to do in order to cure her illness. The narrator Abdul Qayum (a 60-year old male factory worker) is narrating the story to two young speakers of Mankiyali (Abdul Haq and Aurangzeb).

He returned to his own village and eagerly explained that he discovered a new way to get water that was much easier than their traditional way. He bought the supplies and installed the tap in the wall, but no water came out. One of his fellow villagers explained to him that, in order for the tap to work, one must install a pipe from a water source to the tap faucet in the wall.
