Biocompatible, large-format, inkjet printed heterostructure molybdenum disulfide-graphene photodetectors on conformable substrates
This article describes an inkjet printed, biocompatible, heterostructure photodetector that was constructed using inks of photo-active molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) and electrically conducting graphene which facilitated charge collection of the photocarriers. The importance of such devices stems from their potential utility in age-related-macular degeneration, which is a condition where the photosensitive retinal tissue degrades with aging, eventually compromising vision. The absence of effective therapeutic remedies for patients with this disorder has motivated the development of such devices to restore some degree of visual function.

An experimental design to study decommitment in a collaborative multi-agent system in a scheduling domain
This article describes the theoretical background and experimental design of new research based on previous multi-agent research on collaborative agents. The research extends the concept of agent decommitment into a resource scheduling domain. The problem is no longer time constrained, however, the number of agents is increased dramatically. The actual experimentation is yet to be performed. The authors state that results of the experimentation will be reported in a future article.

Exceptional increase in the creep life of magnesium rare-earth alloys due to localized bond stiffening
Article describes study in which researchers attribute the 600% increase in creep life in a prototypical Mg–rare earth (RE)–Zn alloy to multiple mechanisms caused by RE–Zn bonding—stabilization of a large volume fraction of strengthening precipitates on slip planes, increase in vacancy diffusion barrier, reduction in activated cross-slip, and enhancement of covalent character and bond strength around Zn solutes along the c-axis of Mg using atomic-scale characterization and first principles calculations.

Permeability Study of Austenitic Stainless Steel Surfaces Produced by Selective Laser Melting
In this article, permeability properties and surface roughness of stainless steel (SS316L) surfaces were evaluated through experimentation with three different laser scanning patterns (chessboard, meander, and stripe), and different sloping angles between the fabricated surface and the laser beam incident on the process. Results showed that for each scanning pattern, the roughness decreased as the sloping angle increased consistently in all experimental trials.

GaussianCpG: a Gaussian model for detection of CpG island in human genome sequences
The article discusses crucial markers in identifying biological elements and processes in mammalian genomes, CpG islands (CGI) that play important roles in DNA methylation, gene regulation, epigenetic inheritance, gene mutation, chromosome inactivation and nuclesome retention. A novel Gaussian model, GaussianCpG, is developed for detection of CpG islands on human genome. Their Gaussian model aims to simplify the complex interaction between nucleotides.
