[Le Fontane Del Giardino Estense In Tivoli]

Photographs of prints from "Le Fontane Del Giardino Estense In Tivoli," by UNT Special Collections. This is the fourth part of a print series showing the main fountains, water sources, and gardens in and around Rome. The production of this book is a mystery to our staff. It looks to be a collection of separate prints that were poorly bound, with many of the pages exceeding the size of the book, and having to be unfolded to view the full page. The first image is of the title page, which is white with red stripes, the title dispersed throughout the first three sections. The rest is filled up by other wording relevant to the book. Image 2, print on a page titled "Vedvta Del Palazzo Dal Piano Del Giardino Con Le Sve Fontane." The black and white print is extended out of a book page, and is of a big garden consisting of trees on a hill in front of a large building, stairs descending in the middle of the expanse trees, and the title under the print. [Josua-rolle]

Photograph of the scroll "Josua-rolle," held by UNT Special Collections. The scroll is rolled out from a box, containing an illustration of several armored soldiers. with shields and helmets. The original Josua-Rolle was crafted at the Imperial Court School of Byzantium in the 10th century, and is now preserved in the vaults of the Vatican Apostolic Library. It was created to celebrate the success of the Byzantine armies in the Holy Land, after a struggle to free Jerusalem. It contains the Old Testament book of the prophet Joshua with various additions, painted in one long strip to form a scroll.

[Biblia Pauperum; Apocalypsis]

Photographs of "Biblia Pauperum; Apocalypsis," held by UNT Special Collections. The first is of the cover of the white book and the title at the top in black Latin script, the first letter of each word red. On top of it is a brown paper with a illustration in a red circle of a woman, Latin wording is around the rim of the circle and snaking over the woman. The second image is an illustrious of horses. In these two pages, there are three drawings of horses: blue, red and black. On each horse is a woman riding it, with small paragraphs of Latin text by them. There are several other drawings of thing such as swords. The third image is an illustration of creatures. At the top of each page is a woman with blue wings. On one side she is holding a collar attached to a creature, and pushing another creature into the gaping mouth of a monster. On the bottom left page six women ride a horse. The text of "Biblia pauperum" consists of selections from the Book of Revelation. Stories of the Apocalypse often recount visions said to be revealed by a heavenly messenger or angel …
