Oral History Interview with Tony Diaz, June 23, 2016
Tony Diaz is a former assistant superintendent of the Corpus Christi Independent School District and was elected to the Corpus Christi school board in 2014. In his interview, Mr. Diaz gives an overview of personal history of childhood in the Valley and educational career in Corpus Christi. He and his wife Bessie remain active in the Corpus Christi area as education advocates.

The Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act of 2016 (S. 524): Comparison of Senate- and House-Passed Versions
This report discusses selected differences and similarities between the Senate- and House-passed versions of the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act of 2016 (CARA; S. 524), which aims to address the problem of opioid addiction in the United States. The two versions of the bill differ substantially. The scope of the differences may be illustrated by their structures: The Senate bill has 28 sections organized in 8 titles, whereas the House bill has 69 sections organized in 18 titles.

Oral History Interview with Robert Bains, February 23, 2016
The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an interview with Robert Bains. Bains joined the Army around early 1942. He completed Signal Corps training. Bains deployed to England and served with the 66th Infantry Division, 566th Signal Corps Company. The 66th was primarily involved with destroying the Germany troops left behind by the retreat from Northern France. Bains traveled through central Europe, Germany and France. He returned to the US and received his discharge in late 1946.

Discovering Texas Material Culture in the Briscoe Center for American History
Presentation for the 2016 Digital Frontiers Annual Conference. This presentation is part of a panel on "Collective Contributions in Creating a Digital Hybrid" discussing the William J. Hill Texas Artisans and Artists Archive. In this presentation, Lynn Bell discusses the three year period in which Fellows surveyed over 11,000 objects and archival items to identify and photograph those that would contribute to the Hill Archive's mission.

Oral History Interview with S'ydney Benemon, June 23, 2016
Ms. Benemon was born and raised in Lufkin, Texas. She attended segregated schools in Lufkin until the schools integrated in 1970, her senior year. Ms. Benemon went on to work for the Lufkin State School for decades before retiring in 2016. During her interview, Ms. Benemon provided information about the community of North Lufkin when she was growing up. Ms. Benemon also described businesses and people that were prominent in the North Lufkin community. Further, Ms. Benemon described the many conflicts that occurred during the first year of integration, such as an incident when armed white parents came to Lufkin High school in efforts to confront Black students. In response, some Black students staged a walkout/march. Ms. Benemon also discussed ongoing issues, including infrastructure, that the predominately Black community in Lufkin still face.
