One day Alqash, now a wealthy minister to the king, needed help deciphering dreams, called upon Baqti Jamal’s son Abu Zare Jamhur, who held a book of prophecies

Recording of Ibrahim reciting “The Sea Sand Pot” in the Nagar dialect of Burushaski. In this popular story a King tells all of his subjects to kill their old parents, but an obedient son hides his father in a trench. Afterward, the King orders the subjects to make a sea sand pot, or a sand chidin, which is a large iron pot used to make food for a thousand people for festivals. None of the villagers knew how, so they approached the hidden father, who told them that it was an impossible task. They told the King that the task was accomplished, but this wisdom proved to the King that an elderly person was saved.

In his travels he meets an old man whom he irritates, but lets the prince stay at his house overnight. The old man’s daughter is great at interpreting problems, and they are married, and she returns to the kingdom to aid the King.

In this popular story Prince Gulzaada wanders into a strange and wonderful land, where he finds a beautiful fairy bathing in a waterfall. He steals her clothing and convinces her to be his wife, but he must promise to remain faithful to her, else she eat his head. When he was forced to marry, the fairy stole him away to Fairyland.

Phalting Haokip tells a traditional narrative about Phumtampa and Changkhatpu. This is a love story where Phumtampa proposes to Changkhatpu. She is a female Thadou speaker from Manipur (currently living in Lambung village), around 83 years old at the time of recording.

Hoihte Saihriem tells the story of Ralngam. In this story, Ralngam befriends a tiger, and they compete and eat food together. Ralngam learns magic from the tiger. She is a female Saihriem speaker from the Barak Valley (currently living in Bahbahar), around 80 years old at the time of recording. She is also a speaker of Bengali.

Khuhpi Saihriem tells the traditional narrative 'Chemtatepu' about animals. She is a female Saihriem speaker from the Barak valley (currently living in Bahbahar village), around 90 years old at the time of recording. Khuhpi is also a speaker of Bengali.

Joujam Haokip tells the love story of Chingnu (a girl) and Helen (a boy). She is a female Thadou speaker from Churachandpur district, Manipur, around 80 years old at the time of recording.

Bahpu Saihriem describes the belief of the Saihriems in the existence of ghosts and spirits. He says that the Saihriems believed in different types of ghosts: some are tall, while others are short, and some ghosts have popping eyes that frighten the people who see them. He is a native speaker of Saihriem from Noxa Tila, Cachar District, Assam.
