President Jeremy Halbreich called the meeting to order and that the main purpose of the meeting was to review TDNA's financial activities for 2006 and adopt the operating budget for 2007.

Texas Daily Newspaper Association's newspaper interns honored by the organization. Editorial interns who worked at the Houston Chronicle and The Dallas Morning News are winners of the 2006 H.M. Fentress Award. Natalie Torentinos, a Houston Chronicle summer intern, will receive $250 and a plaque, runner-up Matthew Haag, who interned at The Dallas Morning News will receive $100 and a plaque. Minutes for July 13, 2006 Texas Daily Newspaper Association Board of Directors' Meeting at the Headliner's Club in Austin, Texas. The members in attendance of the meeting were, Jeremy Halbreich, Gary Borders, Larry Walker, Patrick Birmingham, Nelson Clyde IV, Darrell Coleman, M. Olaf Frandsen, Belinda Gaudet, Buddy King, Ken Whalen, and Darla Thompson. President Jeremy Halbreich opened the meeting and Ken Whalen presented the administrative report stating that TDNA fiscal situation had improved and the association is looking forward to a surplus of one-hundred thousand dollars.

A pension plan information for the Texas Daily Newspaper Association board of directors meeting to be held on July 13, 2006. The list of awards are, the Bright Idea Award, Fred Hartman Excellence in Sportswriting Award, John Murphy Award for Excellence in Copy Editing, Frank Mayborn Award for Community Leadership and the Pat Taggart Award for Texas Newspaper Leader of the Year. Winners of the awards will be received at the annual TDNA meeting to be held, March 19, 2007.

A document for the last call on nominations for the 2006 Intern Competition, H.M. Fentress Memorial Award for Editorial Excellence. First place winner will receive $250 in cash prize and the runner-up will receive $100 in cash prize. Nominations deadlines are September 15, 2006 and must meet the award qualifications.
