Recording of Juan Parra Cancino's fA1LiN(n)G. This is a work for harpsichord and live electronics that was dedicated to Anne Faulborn. This piece aims primarily to create a symbiotic instrument between the mechanical and the electronic sound producers, the properties of the mechanisms of the harpsichord, and its sonic qualities as well as the use of the computer as an enhancer of these properties. Using a limited set of musical gestures, the time structure of the piece is a journey between different possible timbres, accents, resonances and frequency zones.

Recording of Michele Biasutti's Treno in corsa. This work is a real time performance with digital elaboration of the sound of noisers (intonarumori), the noise machines built by Luigi Russolo. This piece was inspired by Russolo's painting, "Treno in corsa nella notte" made in 1911 and is based on some perceptive phenomena studied in the field of psychology of music such as masking, space-time perception, and some perceptive illusions on rhythm.

Recording of John Levack Drever's Ochlophoinc Study # 2 : Hong Kong. This piece is the second in a series of studies investigating crowd sounds. Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated areas in the world, but is also interspersed with green open spaces and sites of reflection and introspection. The sound material includes edited field recordings that aim to celebrate the sheer intensity of continuous human activity that is Hong Kong.

Donnie's Room

Recording of John Mallia's Donnie's Room. This work is a mixed media installation with animated projection, television monitors, spatialized sound, and objects. This work is an homage to the composer's distant cousin, Donnie. This work attempts to reflect the scale at which a person living in a debilitating condition might experience moments of peace despite their otherwise unconquerable physical and/or mental constraints. The sounds, images and objects used in the installation represent gifts to Donnie and/or symbolize comfort, entertainment, stability, perseverance and constraint.

Digits

Recording of Neil Rolnick's Digits. This work was inspired by the use of "digits", as in fingers, to both play the piano and operate a computer. This is a composition for solo piano and digital processing in which the computer only plays sounds which originate from the piano. There can also be a video component to this piece of live images of the pianist's fingers as they play. The overall effect of the piece is of a classical, virtuoso piano sonata, in which the piano itself has been bent slightly out of shape, amplified, and multiplied.

Obscuritas Luminosa

Recording of Diana Simpson's Broken Nerve. This is a work for electronics that the composer considers a soundscape. The inspiration for this work came from electricity and the fact that it can be perceived and experienced in so many different forms. The composer wanted to create a piece which presented electricity as an animate presence. This piece explores the notion of "flux" associated with electricity. The composer gives thanks to the technical department of the RSAMD, Glasgow for their help in recording arc welding.

Lonquimay.89

Recording of Juan Parra Cancino's Lonquimay.89. The goal of this piece was to create a sound result that would be as coherent as possible, allowing for the composer and listener to focus and hear the micro and macro level structures generated. The title of this piece comes from the name of a region in the south of Chile as well as a volcano. The composer visited this volcano and some of the sound sequences in this piece were created to remind the composer of the feelings he had when staring at the volcano.
