The capability of the 241-SY-101 Data Acquisition and Control System (DACS) computer system to provide proper control and monitoring of the 241-SY-101 underground storage tank hydrogen monitoring system utilizing the reduced hydrogen abort limit of 0.69% was systematically evaluated by the performance of ATP HNF-4927. This document reports the results of the ATP.

This paper discusses the critical strategic research and development issues in the development of next-generation photovoltaic technologies, emphasizing thin-film technologies that are believed to ultimately lead to lower production costs. The critical research and development issues for each technology are identified. An attempt is made to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the different technologies, and to identify opportunities for fundamental research activities suited to advance the introduction of improved photovoltaic modules.

Design and testing of cryogenic target systems

General Atomics (GA) together with the University of Rochester/Laboratory for Laser Energetics (UR/LLE) and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), has designed the OMEGA Cryogenic Target System. This system fills, cools, and layers DT targets and places them in the center of the OMEGA Target Chamber. All equipment was procured, assembled, and tested at GA and UR/LLE. GA along with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and LANL is designing a test unit to evaluate the key process parameters and design issues associated with fielding cryogenic targets on the National Ignition Facility.

Dominican Republic Wind Energy Resource Atlas Development

A wind resource analysis and mapping study was conducted for the Dominican Republic. The purpose of this study was to identify most favorable wind resource areas and quantify the value of that resource within those areas. This was a major study and the first of its kind undertaken for the Dominican Republic. The key to the successful completion of the study was an automated wind resource mapping program recently developed at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), a US Department of Energy (DOE) national laboratory.

Drawing Evaluation Report for Sampling Equipment

This document presents the results of a task to update the evaluation of River Protection Project (WP) sampling equipment drawings and updates the assigned drawings category as either essential, support, or general drawings. This report updates the drawing evaluation that was originally done per Engineering Task Plan For Truck 3 & 4 Drawing Compliance and Evaluation. The scope of this report is limited to updating the evaluation and identification of drawing category for drawings of certain tank waste sampling equipment for which the RPP Characterization Project has been assigned custody, including: vapor sampling, grab sampling, auger sampling, all core sampling equipment, and Light Duty Utility Arm (LDUA) (see LMHC contract No. 519, release 10). This report does not address drawings for other waste tank deployed equipment systems having similar assigned custody, such as, Cone Penetrometer system, or Long Length Contaminated Equipment (LLCE). The Cone Penetrometer system, which is depicted on vendor drawings, (not H- series), is not currently turned over to operations for deployment. The LLCE equipment was just recently assigned to Characterization Project and was not included in the original scope for this update and will be addressed in the evaluation update scheduled for later in fiscal year 1999, …
