B-physics results from D-Zero
A number of B-physics results from the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider is reported. Measurements of b{anti b} production in p{anti p} interactions at {radical}s = 1800 GeV and 630 GeV are used to evaluate, for the first time with the same detector, the center-of-mass energy and rapidity dependence of b-quark production cross section. A measurement of the b{anti b} angular correlations using dimuon triggers is also presented. Preliminary results from these measurements are compared with the next-to-leading order QCD predictions. Finally, dimuon data samples are used to study P{sub T} and rapidity dependence of b-produced and direct charmonium production.

Bandgap renormalization: GaAs/AlGaAs quantum wells
Bandgap energy renormalization by many-body interactions has been studied in a series of n-type 8-nm-wide GaAs/AlGaAs single quantum wells using magnetoluminescence spectroscopy at 1.4K and for magnetic fields up to 30T. The 2D- carrier densities varied between 1 and 12 x 10(11) cm(-2). At the maximum 2D-carrier density, the bandgap energy difference between the doped and undoped samples was about 34 meV.

Baseline neutron logging measurements in the drift scale test
The Drift Scale Test (DST) is one of the thermal tests being conducted in the Exploratory Studies Facility (ESF). One of the objectives of the DST is to study the coupled thermal-mechanical- hydrological-chemical (TMHC) processes in the ESF at the repository horizon of the potential high-level nuclear waste repository in Yucca Mountain, Nevada. The objectives, the test design, and the test layouts of the DST are included in the test design report by CRWMS M&O Contractor LLNL. The configuration of the DST includes a declining Observation Drift driven mostly east and downward from main tunnel in the ESF, at about 2.827 km from the North portal. The downward slope of the Observation Drift (11.5 to 14.0 percent) ensures a minimum 10 m of middle nonlithophysal Topopah Spring Tuff as the overburden for the DST. The length of the Observation Drift is about 136 m. At the elevation of the DST crown (nominally 10 m below the upper extent of the middle nonlithophysal Topopah Spring Tuff) the Connecting Drift breaks out to the north from the Observation Drift, 136 m from the main tunnel of the ESF. The Connecting Drift extends approximately 40 m to the north from the Observation Drift. …

Beautiful physics at CDF
B-physics with p{anti p} collisions at CDF is reviewed, including production cross sections, masses, and decay properties. with a focus on lifetime and mixing measurements. A two-component lifetime fit of B{sup 0}{sub s} {yields} l{sup +}D{sup -}{sub s}X results in the limit {Delta}{Gamma}{sub s}/{Gamma}{sub s} < 0.81 (95% C.L.), which is converted into an indirect upper bound on {Delta}m{sub s}. From our five B{sup 0}{sub d}-{anti B}{sup 0}{sub d} oscillation analyses, we highlight the use of ``same side`` flavor tagging.

A bibliography on finite element and related methods analysis in reactor physics computations (1971--1997)
This bibliography provides a list of references on finite element and related methods analysis in reactor physics computations. These references have been published in scientific journals, conference proceedings, technical reports, thesis/dissertations and as chapters in reference books from 1971 to the present. Both English and non-English references are included. All references contained in the bibliography are sorted alphabetically by the first author`s name and a subsort by date of publication. The majority of the references relate to reactor physics analysis using the finite element method. Related topics include the boundary element method, the boundary integral method, and the global element method. All aspects of reactor physics computations relating to these methods are included: diffusion theory, deterministic radiation and neutron transport theory, kinetics, fusion research, particle tracking in finite element grids, and applications. For user convenience, many of the listed references have been categorized. The list of references is not all inclusive. In general, nodal methods were purposely excluded, although a few references do demonstrate characteristics of finite element methodology using nodal methods (usually as a non-conforming element basis).
