Acceptance test report for core sample trucks 3 and 4 (open access)

Acceptance test report for core sample trucks 3 and 4

The purpose of this Acceptance Test Report is to provide documentation for the acceptance testing of the rotary mode core sample trucks 3 and 4, designated as HO-68K-4600 and HO-68K-4647, respectively. This report conforms to the guidelines established in WHC-IP-1026, ``Engineering Practice Guidelines,`` Appendix M, ``Acceptance Test Procedures and Reports.`` Rotary mode core sample trucks 3 and 4 were based upon the design of the second core sample truck (HO-68K-4345) which was constructed to implement rotary mode sampling of the waste tanks at Hanford. Successful completion of acceptance testing on June 30, 1995 verified that all design requirements were met. This report is divided into four sections, beginning with general information. Acceptance testing was performed on trucks 3 and 4 during the months of March through June, 1995. All testing was performed at the ``Rock Slinger`` test site in the 200 West area. The sequence of testing was determined by equipment availability, and the initial revision of the Acceptance Test Procedure (ATP) was used for both trucks. Testing was directed by ICF-KH, with the support of WHC Characterization Equipment Engineering and Characterization Project Operations. Testing was completed per the ATP without discrepancies or deviations, except as noted.

Acceptance test report for the L-070 project

This document contains the acceptance test report for the mechanical equipment and instrumentation installed per the L-070 project. The systems that were tested were the pump controls for the 3906 Lift Station and the 350-A Lift Station. The verification of an alarm signal installed between the 3906 lift station and the 340 Facility (3707F Bldg.) was also performed.

Advanced thermal barrier coating system development. Technical progress report (open access)

Advanced thermal barrier coating system development. Technical progress report

The objectives of the program are to provide an improved TBC system with increased temperature capability and improved reliability relative to current state of the art TBC systems. The development of such a coating system is essential to the ATS engine meeting its objectives. The base program consists of three phases: Phase 1: Program Planning--Complete; Phase 2: Development; Phase 3: Selected Specimen--Bench Test. Work is currently being performed in Phase 2 of the program. In Phase 2, process improvements will be married with new bond coat and ceramic materials systems to provide improvements over currently available TBC systems. Coating reliability will be further improved with the development of an improved lifing model and NDE techniques. This will be accomplished by conducting the following program tasks: II.1 Process Modeling; II.2 Bond Coat Development; II.3 Analytical Lifing Model; II.4 Process Development; II.5 NDE, Maintenance and Repair; II.6 New TBC Concepts. A brief summary is given of progress made in each of these 6 areas.

Alternating-Z tripler with high dynamic range (open access)

Alternating-Z tripler with high dynamic range

A KD*P alternating-Z tripler suitable for NIF consists of two detuned Type I doublers and one aligned Type II mixer. The dynamic range for efficient tripling is predicted to be larger for this arrangement than for a standard 2-crystal tripler. We tested an alternating-Z tripler that had doublers with thicknesses of 13 and 10 mm, and a 10-mm-thick mixer. All of the crystals were 80% deuterated. The model of this tripler provided an excellent description of the efficiencies that were measured using pulses with duration of 1 or 6 ns. We confirmed the importance for alternating-Z triplers of controlling the phase differences arising from wavelength dispersion in the air gap between the doublers. The confirmed wide dynamic range of this arrangement is of interest for conversion of the 21-ns Haan pulse, or for conversion of beams with significant intensity fluctuations. Compensation for wavelength dispersion in the gap between the crystals is not an issue if the crystals are in vacuum.

Alternative generation and analysis for phase I privatization transfer system needs (open access)

Alternative generation and analysis for phase I privatization transfer system needs

This decision document provides input for the Phase I Privatization waste staging plans for the High-Level Waste (HLW)and Low-Level Waste (LLW) Disposal Programs. This AGA report evaluates what infrastructure upgrades to existing 200 East waste transfer systems are necessary for delivery of HLW and LLW streams to the Phase I Privatization vendor. The AGA identifies the transfer routing alternatives for supernatant waste transfers from the 241-AN, 241-AW, and 241-AP Tank Farms to the 241-AP-102 tank and/or the 241-AP-104 tank. These two tanks have been targeted as the initial LLW feed staging tanks. In addition, this report addresses the transfer of slurry waste from the 241-AY and 241-AZ Tank Farms to the Phase I Privatization vendor`s facilities for HLW immobilization.
