Diaz notes that Houston has been instrumental in establishing alternative theater and wholeheartedly recommends him to their program.

Letter from Mary Travers, vice president of Alice B. Theatre, to Sterling Houston, prominent San Antonio playwright. She writes to congratulate him on being one of ten people chosen as a finalist for a position on the artistic staff. The rest of the letter details how the upcoming weeks will look like for the finalists, and what materials they need to send so that the theatre can make their final decision.

Letter from someone at the Walt Whitman Cultural Arts Center, INC. to Sterling Houston, prominent San Antonio playwright. Though it has been signed at the bottom, it is difficult to read with certainty. The note informs Sterling that items have been enclosed regarding Essex and suggests that he send them to the appropriate people.

Letter from an unidentified woman to a close group of friends. She informs them of an incident that occurred in New Orleans one night after leaving a friend's wedding. Walking alone towards her car, she became fearful of a man walking behind her. After passing her, he turned back and showed her a t-shirt that read, "all black men are not criminals." The incident shook her considerably as she considered herself a proud liberal. She notes that the problem of racism can be crystallized in such moments, and that she will continue to fight to find solutions.

Letter from Robert Xavier Rodriguez to Sterling Houston, prominent San Antonio playwright. He writes informing him that he will be in San Antonio for a performance of his music at San Antonio College, and wishes to see him.

Typed note from Maya Angelou to Sterling Houston, prominent San Antonio playwright. She wishes the best for Houston and his players. Instructions and information about proper flower care and business information from the Last Straw Florist indicates that flowers accompanied the note.

Letter to John Thomas from his father Rev. James H. Thomas. In the letter, Rev. Thomas mentions his wife and John's mother passing away eight years ago (1987) but how grateful he is for Mary. The letter also mentions the news article about John's resignation from the AIDS Resource Center.

A letter from Blaine Brownell, Provost, University of North Texas. to D. Jack Davis, Vice Provost of UNT and Co-Director of the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, about the NTIEVA stationary and business cards. Brownell had talked to the Chancellor, Alfred F. Hurley, about the UNT publishing policies that prevent NTIEVA from producing the business cards and ask for a memo to be written explaining the situation that NTIEVA should be exempt.
