Two newspaper clippings from the Denton Record-Chronicle, the first clipping is a snippet about the University of North Texas, College of Visual Arts with Jack Davis, Dean of the college. The snippet shows a photograph of the college building, a map of where the building is located on campus and a photograph of Dean Davis. The second newspaper clipping features an article, "Students combine art, academics," where students work on art education projects developed by UNT faculty.

In regards to a project proposed by the San Antonio Museum of Art, SAMA to development a series of art reproductions and presentation for a summer institute to train teachers. McCarter and Reynolds write that they have worked with SAMA since the museum educators attended a Marcus-funded advocacy workshop and believe that their proposal is consistent and similar to NTIEVA's efforts and support their proposal.

The memo is in regards to attached fact sheets indicating the amount of Federal funds each state has received to support the process to implement Goals 2000. Congress passes a bill, Title 1 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, more information of the program will be sent on Duke acquires it.

In regards to their conversation days prior with Davis offering suggestions on how to handle "Friends" award nominations in the future. Suggestions such as the person making the nomination provide additional information besides a letter, the general background on the nominee, contributions to the field of art, letters from two other individuals who support the nominee. This way the committee would have more to consider in their deliberations.

A North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts newsletter for the Fall, 1994, Vol. 5 No. 4. The newsletter features an article, "Art and Writing," the integration of art and writing. The integration of art and writing two equally important symbolic forms of expressions, offers students a dual opportunity to explore ideas and feelings. The purpose of the newsletter is to explain how writing about art provides students with invaluable opportunities for critical thinking and offering lesson plans to work on writing in student activities.

The memo is in regards to newly received information regarding the Goals 2000 Education America Act that Duke wants to share with them. Attached to the memo is a copy of the State Planning Teams responsible for developing plans to implement the Goals 2000 Act, also an attached copy of Duke's recent letter to the California Goals 2000 planning team urging them to attend the arts.

As panel members it is important they address how important the art education and the affects North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts will have on school districts. McCarter and Davis have enclosed a schedule for the panel, that the recipients can modify or supply suggestions. Schedule not present with letter.
