Interview with Cleon Stewart, a Texas National Guard WWII veteran and POW from Tulia, Texas, who served and was captured with the 2nd Battalion, 131st Field Artillery (known as the "Lost Battalion"). Stewart discusses joining the National Guard, training and the Louisiana Maneuvers, deployment to the Pacific in November, 1941, diversion to Java after December 7th, Japanese air strikes and the invasion, the American surrender and initial internement by the Japanese, experiences in internment at Bicycle Camp in Batavia, transfer to Changi Camp, Singapore, and life in captivity there, and liberation.

Interview with George Payne, a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps from Pilot Point, Texas. Payne discusses his family background, growing up and grade school, joining the CCC in Denton, going to Arizona and building a trail in Bontia National Park, leaving the CCC and joining a second time, assignment to Baggs, Wyoming, operating a bulldozer, recreation, camp facilities and organization, food, leave, pay, classes, new guys and hazing, and some reflections on the impact of the Corps.

Interview with Lloyd Shipman, a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps from Dallas, Texas. Shipman discusses his family and education, the impact of the Great Depression, joining the CCC and assignment to Bartlett, Texas, work as a typist, discipline and regimentation in the camp, daily routine, education services, recreation, and his thoughts on the impact of the CCC. In appendix are a chapter from an autobiography by Shipman, and two poems that he wrote.

Interview with Lloyd Wood, a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps from Valera, Texas. Wood discusses his family background, joining the CCC and assignment to Cache, Oklahoma, the layout of the camp, daily routine, projects, fights, recreation and entertainment, his fellow men and superiors, transfer to a camp at Roswell, New Mexico, sports and athletics, pay, ethnic relations in camp, and the National Association of CCC Alumni.

Interview with Robert L. Nettles, a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps from Groesbeck, Texas. Nettles discusses his family's difficulties on the farm and joining the CCC, initiation and hazing, the layout of Mother Neff State Camp and accommodations, daily routine, pay, CCC Alumni, and reflections on the Corp's impact in his life.

Interview with Garfield Thompson, a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps from Fort Worth, Texas. Thompson discusses his family background and education, the effects of the Great Depression, Republicans, the New Deal, joining the CCC and assignment to Company 812 in Cache, Oklahoma, the layout of the camp, projects worked, routine, recreation and leave, discharge, and reflections on the program.

Interview with Forrest B. Earnest, a former member of the Civilian Conservation Corps from Cotton County, Oklahoma. Earnest discusses his family origins, education and jobs as a young man, joining the CCC, working on the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge, organization and geography of the camp, working as a clerk, routine, leisure, pay, educational programs, religion and literature in camp, fights, and benefits of being in CCC.

Interview with Albert Boggs, a former member of the Civilian Conservation Corps from Mixon, Oklahoma. Boggs discusses his family life, farming, struggles during the Depression, joining the CCC, his first assignment to a camp at Jacksonville, TX, education, camp life and organization, work, fights in camp, transfer to a camp in Waxahachie, being an assistant leader, building bridges, the kinds of people who worked the camp, and some general reflections. In appendix are Boggs' discharge papers and a newsletter commemorating CCC veterans.
