Within the crowd watching the performance, some people sit on blankets or chairs. Multiple audience members have blue balloons. Trees planted in the courthouse's lawn provide shade for the majority of the crowd. In the background behind the performers and occupied lawn is a line of shops including "McBride music & pawn". One shop has the American and Mexican flags flying atop small poles in front of it.

In this photograph, a man holding a small child on his shoulders stands next to a statue of Rowdy the Armadillo, the mascot of the fictional Texas State Armadillos. According to the caption that accompanied the photograph, the man's name is Ronald Edwards and the child on his shoulders is Deandre White. The statue, designed by Kathryn Kneip (class of 1990), was on temporary display in the Administration Building's lobby.
