Skirt ensemble: a) Maxi skirt of olive, turquoise, grey, black and orange/pink quilted satin with gold quilted velvet appliques, and appliques of light gold metallic on black. Quilted satin background has large abstract leaf motif with rough, feathered edges. Appliques are of a smaller leaf motif, the majority of which are gold velvet. Skirt is fully lined in a stiffened transparent black fabric with bands of woven plastic threads spaced from top to bottom to create a fuller skirt. Full-length, 45" long. Center back 8 1/2" opening with two snaps and two hinge closure. b) Blouse of gold quilted velvet patterned with tightly quilted lines forming rounded hearts with more loosely quilted swirly lines of space between. Fitted. Sleeves are long and tapered with a 4" zipper closure at wrists. Center back zipper closure extends all the way down to hem at waist. Standing round collar breaks in center back with three hook&eye closure, giving a turtleneck appearance in front. Attached shoulder pads. "Oscar de la Renta"

Van Nostrand talks about joint ventures with Nippon Oil Company and Koa Oil Company, increasing the refining capacity from 60,000 bbls. to 900,000 bbls. per day, crude oil contracts, the Nippon Petroleum Refining Company, refinery rehabilitation and construction, his role in Caltex operations in Japan, the Nippon Oil Staging Terminal Company, relations between Caltex (Japan) and New York headquarters, OPEC and its effects upon Caltex, character sketches of Neal Lilley, Alec Singleton, and James Voss, and various Japanese oil executives. The interview includes a personal history of S. Nomura.
