This report is developed as part of the Fermilab Central Computing Facility Project Title II Design Documentation Update under the provisions of DOE Document 6430.1, Chapter XIII-21, Section 14, paragraph a. As such, it concentrates primarily on HVAC mechanical systems design optimization and cost analysis and should be considered as a supplement to the Title I Design Report date March 1986 wherein energy related issues are discussed pertaining to building envelope and orientation as well as electrical systems design.

We report as inelastic neutron scattering study of the uniaxial dilute antiferromagnets Fe/sub 1-x/Mg/sub x/Cl/sub 2/, for x = 0.3, 0.45 and 0.6. The first two samples have long-range AF order. Their spin-wave peaks are broadened by the exchange fluctuations. The x = 0.6 sample oders like an Ising spin-glass with a very short AF correlation length (xi approx. = 10 A). For wavelength lambda less than or equal to xi, the spin-wave peaks are similar to the dilute antiferromagnets, but for lambda less than or equal to 2xi, the peak shapens up and becomes resolution limited at the zone center. We give a simple explanation of this behavior. 13 refs., 1 fig.

Two types of antiproton instabilities due to trapped ions are harmful in the AA. One is a coherent instability occurring when an ion pocket resonates with a 3-Q mode (hiccups), the other is excitation of 11th and 15th order non-linear resonances due to the non-linear focusing fields from localized ion clouds trapped in uncleared potential well pockets. Accumulation with a good injection yield of antiprotons forces us to locate the tune of the dense core in the general area of the array of 15th order resonances. To avoid harmful blow-up of the dense core the tune is located between the resonances 11Q{sub H} + 4Q{sub V} = 34, 10Q{sub H} + 5Q{sub V} = 34, and 11Q{sub H} = 25, requiring a tune of Q{sub H} = 2.2722 to be maintained with a precision of a few 10{sup -4} (Fig. 4). Different angles of the injection and ejection trajectories require the septum current to be changed from 3860 A during accumulation to 3920 A, during ejection mode. The first 16.5 m long SSC dipole magnet (D00001) had its field intensity measured as a function of position with a custom made NMR magnetometer. A short description of the probe is presented. The data obtained (most of it near 2 T spaced apart by one inch) shows an average transfer function of 1.02830 T/KA with position dependent values deviating from the average by up to .00130 T/KA revealing contruction inhomogeneities that were measured with a sensitivity of 25 ppM.

This Quality Assurance (QA) Program sets forth the methods, controls, and procedures used to ensure that the results of Argonne National Laboratory's peer review activities are consistently of the highest quality and responsive to Salt Repository Project Office's needs and directives. Gluon emission and the transverse momentum (p/sub t/) of partons confined in nucleons were studied using deep-inelastic charged-current neutrino-nucleon interactions. For this analysis we use the flow of hadronic energy in the azimuthal direction around the momentum transfer referenced from the neutrino-muon scattering plane. A five standard deviation asymmetry was found. Analysis of this asymmetry indicates a (p/sub t/) of 0.35 +- 0.12 GeV/c if QCD corrections are included, and 0.56 +- 0.05 GeV/c if they are excluded. Some evidence was also observed for x dependence in p/sub t/. Data were taken at Fermilab in 1982 using a 200 ton (fiducial mass) fine grained calorimeter and a dichromatic neutrino beam.

The resolution obtained with two types of beam position monitors, the Linac model and the arc model, with their respective electronics are compared. Below 10/sup 10/ particles the Linac system yields a better resolution, but beyond 10/sup 10/ the Arcs system exhibits a resolution which is inversely proportional to the signal-to-noise ratio. Weekly report of the Texas Crop and Livestock Reporting Service on broiler chick numbers in Texas and compared with other states. It includes compiled statistics across six consecutive weeks, the week ending February 1 to the week ending March 8, during 1985 and 1986 for broiler eggs set, chicks hatched, and chicks placed.

The purpose of this report is to show the results of enlarging the liquid argon vessel and moving the heavy supports by a varying magnitude less than or equal to 6 inches. In order to accomplish this, the center of gravity of the entire calorimeter had to be calculated, which includes: the center of gravity of the liquid argon vessel, the modules and the argon. Enlarging the cryostat for the endcap calorimeter and moving the rear supports along with it results in different load distributions on each support. By taking moments and finding these loads one can plot the loads on each support versus the enlargement of the cryostat and movement of the rear supports. This plot is shown in figures 2 and 3 for an empty and filled endcap respectively. The graph of weight vs. length of the vessel enlargement shows a significant decrease in the load that the heavy support experiences as the vessel gets larger, therefore the stress in the member decreases.

These proceedings describe the workshop of the Topical Meeting on Small Scale Geothermal Power Plants and Geothermal Power Plant Projects. The projects covered include binary power plants, rotary separator, screw expander power plants, modular wellhead power plants, inflow turbines, and the EPRI hybrid power system. Active projects versus geothermal power projects were described. In addition, a simple approach to estimating effects of fluid deliverability on geothermal power cost is described starting on page 119. (DJE-2005)
